Franklin E. “Jake” Britton, 83 of New Holland, died Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Cornog, PA, he was the son of the late Wilmer and Clara (Hughes) Britton. He was married 64 years on July 13, to Ann (Stauffer) Britton.
He worked most of his life as an electrician with his last employment at B.J. Baldwin Electric in Narvon.
He attended Honey Brook High School and served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1951-54 serving aboard the destroyer USS CR Ware DD865. He traveled extensively and was an excellent cook.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Laura Putt and M. Jill Leslie; a sister, Edith Martini; three granddaughters, Tiffany Hedrick Mattsson, Renee Putt, and Kristin Leslie; three great grandchildren; along with nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are two children, Michael A. Jany and Steven M. Britton; a grandson, A. Wyatt Putt; two sisters, Anna Dehiser and Kathryn Fillman; and two brothers, Wilmer Britton, Jr. and William Britton.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
