Samuel B. Allgyer, Sr., 82, of New Holland, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Hospice and Community Care in Mt. Joy.
He was married 62 years to Leona Pugh Allgyer. Born in Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Amos G. and Leah Blank Allgyer.
Samuel retired from CNH where he had been a training engineer for over 25 years. He was a member of the Mt. Airy Evangelical Congregational Church. He was a former member of the White Horse Fire Co. Samuel was a member of the Country Music Association and in the past had been a promoter of Country Music Shows in the County. He had helped to coach softball teams for Pequea Valley Youth Softball and Lancaster Mennonite High School for many years.
Surviving besides his wife are two granddaughters, Heidi wife of Ryan Kurtz of New Holland, and Heather wife of Tom McEneaney of West Chester; seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Naomi wife of Steven Johnson of Lancaster, Rebecca Riehl companion of Ron Steinmetz of New Holland, and Elsie wife of Reuben Smucker of New Holland; and a brother, Amos B. husband of Lydia Ruth of Millerstown. He was preceded in death by sons, Samuel B. Allgyer, Jr. and Roy Renard Allgyer. Also preceded in death by siblings Elmer Allgyer, husband of Gloria Allgyer, John B. Allgyer, husband of Fay Allgyer and Mary Ann Bender, wife of Richard Bender.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 29, at 10:00 A.M. at the Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main St. New Holland, PA with the Rev. Bruce H. Willie officiating. A viewing will be held at the Beck Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment in the Zeltenreich Cemetery.
